Armoured catfishes are a demersal fish species from South America that forage for food with their whiskers on or in the substrate. It is therefore important that the substrate is never too rough or sharp-edged. They like to live socially (with the exception of C. acutus) and are peaceful fish. Armoured catfish are omnivores that eat detritus (crushed organic matter) on or in the substrate. This means that their food spectrum covers almost everything that can be found in natural waters. Fish also have a sense of taste and refuse food they don’t like. It’s even good for the fish as it offers them more variety. What is the difference between tablets and wafers? During the food production process, food tablets (e.g. JBL PRONOVO TAB, JBL PRONOVO CORYDORAS) are mechanically pressed from fine food into flakes or granules. The wafers (thin tablets), on the other hand, are sliced thinly from pulp pressed by the extruder as a “continuous sausage” and then dried. The diameter of the “sausage” is the diameter of the wafer (thin tablet). In the case of the JBL PRONOVO PLECO these are two sizes: M and XL.
