The aquarium water passes through the robust, UV-resistant housing of the clarifier. UV radiation kills bacteria, other microbes and floating algae as the water passes through. The efficiency of this UV-C water purifier is particularly high as the glass bulb is surrounded by a polished, reflective stainless steel foil that reflects UV-C radiation and thus doubles the efficiency. This can also help eliminate resistant algae, such as filamentous algae, as their spores are also largely destroyed. Difference from the previous model JBL ProCristal UV-C Compact: The function indicator is now mounted on the flat side of the electrical block, and the microswitch to automatically shut off the burner when the housing is opened (if the plug is not removed) has been replaced with a magnetic safety switch. This means that the electrical modules of the previous models (Compact) do NOT fit the new ones (Compact Plus) and vice versa.
